Job Description:**

Under minimal supervision oversees, monitors, and coordinates underground joint trench projects from design through construction completion. Manages construction schedule by facilitating weekly joint utility trench meetings with stakeholders. Communication point of contact for joint utility trench participants, utility trench contractor, developers, engineering firms, inspectors, leaders, regional coordinator and distribution designers.


**Knowledge of:**

+ Standard construction methods, installation practices for overhead and underground

+ General construction safety practices including OSHA and IPC safety programs/processes.

**Skills in:**

+ Excellent communication and coordination skills with employees, contractors, and customers. Skills with Microsoft office products, organization and time-management.

**Ability to:**

+ Represents IPC interests during construction of joint utility trench projects. Work independently with limited direction, self-motivated and able to problem solve.



+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience


+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field


+ 5 years of journey-level work in distribution, transmission, or lines construction or design, including 1 year demonstrated experience with project coordination.


+ 5 years of journey-level work in distribution, transmission, or lines construction or design and 3 years of experience in project management or construction management.

**Licenses & Certifications:**

+ Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position.

+ Must obtain First Aid/CPR card within 90 days.


The Joint Trench Coordinator works with building contractors and other utilities to coordinate installation of underground power lines and appropriate infrastructure in new developments. This requires standing/ambulation of up to 2 hours on even/uneven surfaces and climbing into/from 3 feet wide X 4 feet deep trenches. Lifting of up to 50 lbs, pushing of up to 50 lbs, and pulling of up to 90 lbs is performed. Use of PPE with operation of hand tools is required while kneeling, crouching, and crawling for extended periods, with frequent stooping/bending and transferring from standing to the ground. Climbing into a vault is performed occasionally. Use of a shovel is necessary occasionally. Prolonged sitting of up to 2-3 hours is required for travel/meetings. Able to travel and work overtime when needed. Additional safety related training may be required.


Travel across Idaho Power company service area. Occasional extended out-of-town stay. May need to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
